Job Description for the RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function.
The RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Provides all diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory modalities inclusive but not limited to: ventilation and airway management, CPAP/BIPAP, delivery of aerosolized medication, chest physiotherapy, assessment of oxygen requirements and ABG acquisition.. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Typically reports to a manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for the RRT, Respiratory Therapist
Requires a credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
Requires an active PA Respiratory License.
Requires BLS with ACLS preferred.
Prefer 2 years of clinical respiratory care experience in routine and critical care.
